BE PART OF THE VICTORIAN ERA

What do you know about Victorian Architecture? Casa Aldea resides in a Victorian Era mansion, constructed over a hundred years ago. Therefore it exhibits some of the classic Victorian architecture elements typical for the time.

What kind of architectural elements? Tall frames and multiple stories. Unlike modern constructions, which tend to spread out and look flat, Victorian homes are almost always very tall with multiple stories. The height was a sort of status symbol—a tall home meant a noteworthy status. Urban settings also meant that ground space was limited so building up was a better use of space. The height allowed for much higher ceilings and larger windows than is typical now. Casa Aldea features two floors, high ceilings in all rooms, and large windows which means natural light all day long.

Ornate Details. Victorian means ´over the top´. Beautiful decorative trims around windows, doors, and other portals. None of the modern right angles and clean lines we´re accustomed to now. The victorians utilized creative moldings and trim to achieve one-of-a-kind results,

and to convey a sense of grandeur, wealth and progress. The reception and common area at Casa Aldea feature stunning round fretwork panels, columns and the exterior features ornamental posts and iron railings.

Saturated Colours. Prior to the era, most houses were white or beige. By 1889, bright earth tones like burnt sienna and mustard yellow became more popular, influenced by broader artistic and cultural movements of the time. Keeping with that style, Casa Aldea´s blue exterior, yellow door and window frames, and deep red internals call back to s time of bold ideas.
